» わたしのこと «

The writer does not intend to but tends to make silly remarks that make others laugh. Sometimes she enjoys this unintentional trait of hers, and sometimes she detests it. But nevertheless, she loves to laugh at silly things, both good and bad, mostly little silly things, because she finds that life is too short to spend it sulking away. She also tends to be sarcastic with her words because the subtlety of dry humour makes her laugh even more and lightheartedly at those who "just don't get it."

    Strictly for Muggers only

    Tuesday, May 30, 2006

I just couldn't resist posting this. Found this snipplet on muggers at the UCC museum while visiting one of the exhibitions for my Jap Society module:

Unlike their mean street namesakes, these are non-violent library types. First in queue for "red spot books" (high usage, required reading), you can spot a mugger fifty yards away by the bulge in his/her pocket caused by 20 cent coins for xeroxing red spot books. Today's industrial strength photocopiers owe their development to rigorous testing by our mugging fraternity.

Muggers are almost always sunlight averse and rarely surface for air, preferring the company of books to the company of men (or women). They can be found in the deepest and darkest recesses of the library, mugging away. Not surprisingly, most muggers have milky white complexions, the kind which even Snow White would envy. An extreme variety of muggers known as "power muggers" have skins so fair they glow in the dark.

Muggers have gone through several mutations through the years and a contemporary second cousin is the nerd. Muggers are not "kia-su" by nature, they are just addicted to mugging. They are not mean-spirited and have been known to be generous, lending 20 cent coins to their last-minute mugging, Union House-hanging, lecture-notes borrowing counterparts.
